Skater Assaulted In New Zealand

In New Zealand, Craig Platt appeared in the Auckland District Court last week to face an additional assault charge for his physical altercation with skater and advocate Leighton Dyer following his harsh body block upon a teenage skateboarder during a skate competition at Victoria Park last month. Video of the incident went viral on the internet, leading to outrage from many in the New Zealand skateboarding community. The video even prompted Auckland Mayor Len Brown to weigh in.

Great Desert Pool Duel Invitational

Check out the footage below of Jake ripping at the Great Desert Pool Duel contest last weekend. He walked away with a solid 4th place!

The 1st Annual Great Desert Pool Duel Invitational took place out at Billy Runaway’s Palmdale, California residence last Saturday with newly remodeled shallow end steps to his giant left hand kidney bowl and a good mix of riders going at it all afternoon.

Tom is our local hero and shop hommie and when I heard rumors of him wanting to grind down the Hubba right out front of Taco Bell Reef (R.I.P.), I thought he was crazy. But Tom is the only person I know that would be crazy enough to even try it and and he fucking grinded this beast!! This is one for the history books forsure. Cant wait to see his part in the new Zero Video!!

Power. Ferociousness. I wasn’t sure if Jeff was going to be riding in the Vans/Protec extravaganza next month. I’ve recently heard that he is. I like this. I recall his 50-50 grind to fakie around the whole damned planet in the one contest and his slide and rolls are not to be trifled with. Big on speed, style and power, Jeff can bring the beatdown when he wants. Last year, I asked him if he was nervous on contest day. He was pacing back and forth on the deck and looked over at me as if to say- “Really?! Do I look calm to you in any way?!” To be honest, my question defied a polite response. I can’t wait to see what Jeff brings to the contest this year. It should be insane! Thanks to Grant Brittain & MRZ for the images. Skate- Ozzie

Team Jokers In Brazil

Following the success of the inaugural Red Bull Skate Generation in 2010, the international invitational event returned to Florianopolis in Brazil this year for a second demonstration of cross-generation skating skills held in local hero Pedro Barros’s very own private skatepark (Florianopolis). In front of 2000 fans, Barros used his home advantage to good effect as he grabbed victory to cement his reputation as the king of the bowl.
